Haitian Pikliz is a spicy pickled vegetable relish. Which is used as a condiment to add spice to just about anything. It can be made with a variety of different flavors depending on the different vegetables that you add to it. But the kick from the heat will remain from the peppers. Even tho you put in fresh peppers the heat isn’t as intense as eating a raw habanero or scotch bonnet due to the vinegar. We kept this one simple with just Cabbage and peppers. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- ΒΌ head of cabbage
- 10-12 habaneros
- 1 tsp chicken bouillon
- 2 jalapenos
- 2 cups vinegar (however much is needed to top of your jar)
optional
- carrots
- bell peppers
- garlic
- onions
Clean off any old or damaged outside leaves of the cabbage. Finely chop cabbage, habaneros, jalapenos, and any extra ingredients you may add to your pikliz (such as carrots, bell peppers, garlic, or onions). Add all chopped vegetables to a jar. Add chicken bouillon and fill the jar to the top with white vinegar. Close the lid shake well and store in the refrigerator or countertop.
